Smart Growth Readiness Assessment Tool Facilitation Available
Smarth Growth Assessment Tool (SGRAT) Facilitation Available from ENP Staff
The Land Policy Institute at Michigan State University, and the Planning & Zoning Center, in conjunction with the Citizen Planner Program, has developed a Smart Growth Readiness Assessment Tool (SGRAT) to assist local communities implement Smart Growth principles. Erin Perdu, principal of ENP & Associates, became a certified facilitator for the SGRAT at a training session on February 9, 2007.
The SGRAT is a set of online assessments for scoring how well a community is prepared to develop according to Smart Growth principles. The tool provides communities with a baseline score, and can be used to measure progress. The SGRAT is intended to help communities:
- Learn about Smart Growth and the benefits of applying Smart Growth principles.
- Assess whether or not the community is ready to practice Smart Growth.
- Implement Smart Growth using extensive resources including case studies of Michigan communities successfully following Smart Growth principles.
